Zahli in The Rocks reveals their favourite cocktails and couple them with our favourite Lebanese restaurant picks

Aperol Spritz

Aperol Spritz is one of our favourite summer cocktails. Refreshing and revitalising, this delightful orange drink is a summertime staple! What is Aperol? This aperitif cocktail originated in Italy and was created in the years between 1912 and 1919. It has been around for quite a while! This unique drink is made from a blend of rhubarb, gentian and cinchona with a subtly bitter citrus flavoured taste.

The best way to make an Aperol Spritz is by mixing the alcohol with prosecco and a splash of soda water! The brilliant, distinctive orange drink represents summer all around the world and is the perfect party starter for festive celebrations, especially in Australia where the festive season begins.

How do you enjoy Aperol Spritz at a Middle Eastern restaurant in The Rocks Sydney? Although Aperol Spritz is an Italian drink, it certainly does go well with Lebanese mezza. We would recommend selecting some mixed dips, including hummus, baba ghannouj and labneh as well as ladies fingers, falafel, eggplant and potato coriander. These delicious mezza options are similar to the Italian aperitif. These Lebanese picks will complement the refreshing Aperol Spritz perfectly!

Mojito

The magnificent mojito! This drink is a refreshing light cocktail made of white rum, sugar, lime juice, sparkling water and mint and is one of the most ordered cocktails in the world and is the epitome of summer! The combination of sweetness, citrus and mint flavours creates a sensationally unique taste.

So, what do you order to compliment a Mojito a Lebanese restaurant in The Rocks? Mojitos traditionally go well with seafood and poultry options. We recommend Zahli’s barbeque prawns, salt and pepper squid, samke harra as well as other mezza options such as our favourite – chicken wings! There’s nothing better than a sip of Mojito and a bite of a chicken wing. The perfect combination.

Cosmopolitan

The famous Cosmopolitan. What is it? This popular cocktail is made with a mixture of vodka, Cointreau, cranberry juice, lemon juice and lime cordial. Cosmopolitans are best complemented with well-spiced appetisers or highly spiced meats. It also works well with a variety of different cheese dishes.

What is the best thing to order off a Lebanese restaurant menu in The Rocks? The best items to order off a Lebanese menu, when drinking a Cosmopolitan would be the fried kibbeh, sambousik meat/cheese, kafta and halloumi cheese. These highly spiced meat options and mouth-watering cheese mezzas are ideal to snack on while indulging in a Cosmopolitan.

Caipiroska

This sweet and sour drink consists of vodka, lemon juice and sugar syrup. This cocktail is the perfect balance of sweet and sour. Between the tart tang of lime and sweetness from the sugar, you have the classic cocktail. We love Caprioska because it can be enjoyed with a variety of different dishes. Vodka works well with many different appetisers and main meals.

However, here are some ideas on what you should order from a Middle Eastern restaurant in The Rocks, Sydney. We recommend any fresh salad, such as the fattoush as well as other mezza options including, kibbeh nayeh, ladies fingers, halloumi and cheese sambousik. This is because Caprioska usually goes well with tartare and strong salty cheeses. So we have chosen some of the closest picks off our menu to complement the delightful Caipiroska

At Zahli, Middle Eastern Restaurant in The Rocks Sydney, we serve a variety of salads, dips, cold and hot mezza as well as main meals and desserts all true to traditional flavours. We take the very best dishes from the rich history of Lebanese cooking and have tailored them to offer you a fresh and contemporary taste.
